Gen 7 as a whole was fine, wasn't a fan of the QoL drops from 6 but overall they were good. They just have terrible replay value because of the unskippable cutscene hell they drop you into.

I'm with you. Gen 7 was at the very least "conceptually sound" and while the games themselves were massive downgrades even from Gen 6 I still think Alola as a region and the concepts it introduced are infinitely more interesting.
