No. It's fitting for OG Red to have Bulbasaur since he represents the beginning of the series like Bulbasaur does for the Pokedex.
It's equally as fitting for Advanced era onwards Red to have Charmander because it shows that the series itself has also advanced.
Outside of a few prerelease arts for FRLG, the newer design for Red has never been seen with anything but the Charizard line unless it's with all three.
