I get that Mega Evolutions were primarily ways of making older favorite Pokemon new and exciting again so of course the Kanto starters were gonna get megas but it is so ridiculous that instead of your starter getting a mega, you get a whole brand new second starter to teach the player about mega evolutions. Ridiculous decisionmaking.

They probably saved them for XY2/Z to use them for shilling, but that game never came out so that's it.
Notice how GMAX galar starters only released with the first dlc.

It's better that they didn't, since Megas just got removed.

Necrozma was built around Z-Crystals, but now it can't transform anymore because of fucking Dynamax.
