Gen 2 didn't really have any other spooky areas since Lavender Town was toned down a lot, and the Sprout and Tin Towers don't have the same atmosphere despite being where you actually caught Ghost-types.

I wish Giratina used its origin form wings as legs instead, I feel the Distortion World sequence would've felt more unsettling if it scuttled around on shadowy webs instead of just flying through the abyss, it already has mandibles so it's not like it wouldn't fit.

I feel like N is the most unsettling when you find out why he is what he is. And then there's everything in Alola either being your best friend or straight up wanting you dead. The anime did a great job showing it with Mimikyu, Bewear and Buzzwole.

I like the grassy interior better honestly. It's not scary at all but it nails the "peace in the afterlife" feeling for me. The marble walls, the overgrown moss, it feels like a somber and melancholic place, moreso than an unsettling one. Makes it stand out from the other "worn down memorial" locations for me, it's nice, welcoming. Both are good approaches though.
