So, despite all of the hype, this game is definitely not getting DLC right? GameFreak has made no mention of it and I almost suspect they weren't expecting it to be the hit that it was - they almost act like it's just a small side game and that they want to sweep it under the rug.

We justgot an ipdaye for tue gameawhiel ago, and Hone conpatibility is meant to be coming sometime. That will probably be all since SV are set for November, but it's a reasonable amount of content for an experimental single-player game.

It got significantly less fanart and social media traction than Sword Shield got. It was never a major new gen-tier game.

I wish there would be some but there definitely won't be. They've already pushed it aside and are full steam ahead on gen9. The smaller team that made PLA likely has dispersed into other projects.
I would like some story-related DLC to wrap up loose ends.

They did EXACTLY that. with SS's DLC though. They had it be THE game for two christmases running. But they never were going to replace every release they made in the past with DLC, just the releases that were superfluous to selling home console games (eg the rehashes sold at full price with little new additions). remakes and experiments will still be produced, as they still introduce new kids to the brand on their release.

Did you read the rest of the post past that sentence? The DLC extended its lifespan by one year, when they could have extended it by three years. An update which allows compatibility with BDSP or even legends arceus would shake up the VGC metagame and make it interesting.
There's literally no excuse - every pokemon gen 4 and below are fully modeled and textured in HD. It wouldn't break the meta since most of the broken stuff is in the game already, but it would make teambuilding more interesting

Did you read the rest of mine? Their MO is "replace current with new every year, to keep kids hooked on the brand". They were NEVER releasing endless DLC, especially when they bundled Game+DLC like the rehashes got sold separately a year or two after the pair, depending. Should have realised THAT one, but you still think you're worth a fuck to the creators now, when you're irrelevant as evidenced by them ignoring your ilk to continue promoting their brand and franchise as they always have.
