>>50046934I kind of like Hoenn, but Hoenn is ultimately just Unova lite, i.e. an amusement park region with a bunch of different unrealistic environments that wouldn't really be inhabitable by humans in the real world (e.g. a town right next to an active volcano constantly spewing plumes of steam and ash, a town built on wooden rafts and logs, a town made of treehouses, a town in a caldera that can only be accessed by diving, etc.). Also a dex bloated with shitmons (Volbeat-Illumise and Plusle-Minun being the most notorious) and a bunch of Kanto knockoffs, though not as many as Unova.
