>>50047918I've never understood the "it had a bad roster" thing.
It covers almost every type, every gen at the time, has a variety of body types (both humanoid, draconic, chibi/animal, quadrapeds, and objectmons), covers key fighting game archtypes (recolored superpowered dark boss in Shadowtwo, joke character in Gunk, ninja with a subsitute and izuna drop in sceptile) and covers basically every tier of popularity, with both mascotmons (pika, zard, lucario, etc), very popular mons (Garchomp, Garde, Blaziken), more niche favorites (Weavile, machamp, scizor) oddball picks (Chandelure, Croagunk), major feasible legendaries (Suicuine, Darkrai), etc.
I honestly can't think of a single way to improve the roster seriously aside from just more characters in general and having Hawlucha instead of libre.
>>50049193>>50049263Making it all fighting types would defeat the point. The average fighting type pokemon is no more magical/capable then the average fighting game character anyways, so why bother at that point? Plus, what makes fighting types cool in the context of Pokemon is that they're the exception that just uses martial arts in a setting with elemental monsters. In a fighting game where everybody is punching and kicking anyways or where you have nothing but fighting types, they lose their appeal and potential for unique playstyles.
Pokken only having a few "primarily" fighting type mons like Machamp, Lucaruio, arguably Blaziken, etc is the right approach, as it keeps them distinct and allows them to represent specific fighting disciplines (grappling/wrestling, the fighting game shoto, etc) without losing Pokemon's appeal.
>>50050862Suicuine is low tier and Chandelure is high, but not top tier at best. The other major zoner, Gardevoir, is also low tier. The actual best characters in Pokken aren't zoners, but are generalists, like Mewtwo, Lucario, Braixen (whoi leans into zoning but isn't a pure zoner), etc.
