Regional variants are the best thing to happen to Pokemon.

Imagine if Game Freak focused on diversifying the already existing roster with regional types/variants/breeds much like IRL animals, instead of making 100 more cartoons with jobs every 2 years.

I disagree, for the following reasons: It allows them to simply rehash old Pokémon. It allows them to be even lazier, robs us of potential new Pokémon, and shits on people who have been waiting for evolutions for old Pokémon for ages. The only argument against this is Eviolite, and competitive has always been a joke. They should just embrace the fact that their game will never be adequate for competitive.

I enjoy a regional variant as much as anyone but they should never be a focus minor changes to a pre existing design with a new type is not a replacement for fun and new pokemon also doesn't help that almost none of them are from gens outside of kanto

Considering nupokemon designs are all fucking garbage in practice I don't terribly mind them rehashing old designs since they're usually still superior to OC
