>>50063636You're right, OP. ORAS were good. I think they would really have benefited from the Ride Pokemon brought along in S/M, but soaring was a damn good start.
ORAS was actually my getting-off-point for the main series. I began with Ruby, and felt like coming full circle was poetic.
That aside, Magma and Aqua's motivations seemed clearer in this version, making for a much more compelling story, and the design update of the two teams was great. The secret base system was fucking fantastic, the updates to contests were fun, especially the use of Mega Evolution, which makes so much sense. Reusable TMs were a drastic improvement too, and I get to come back to my favorite generation with my favorite Pokemon, pic related!
All in all, what's not to love? Okay yeah, too many HMs, and water all being treated like tall grass were a problem. But that's basically it.
