It's pretty much been proven at this point that if you set Red and Cynthia's teams up against each other at relatively equal levels, with both having good EV/IV spreads, they're more evenly matched than you might think. Cynthia does still have an edge, but Red will come out on top 40-something percent of the time. It's surprisingly close. So I've always figured that if they gave Red the BDSP treatment he'd be quite the fun challenge.
But if they were able to make it so that his team was average in the stat department, like your typical playthrough team, but they got affection bonuses? He'd still be very tough, but in a new and interesting way that would set him apart from anyone else. I am 100% in favour of this. Of course it'll never happen, but a guy can dream
