Not even a question. He wants the games to be as sterile and bland as Gen 7 and 8 were for ease of coverage. Too much sidemodes or extraneous content and he might actually have to do something other than copy/paste links to news announcements or stuff from Dataminers.

I think it wore off because he just decided to actually not say or do anything stupid last year or this year so far.
It will probably stay tame as long as Gamefreak doesn't fuck up SV's presentation like they did with SWSH in the first place back at E3 2019
