>>50084015Pretty much, I think it hits the nice two "middle" between the two stages without doing sudden turn from either, or suddently going back on some interesting choce like Croconaw being a caveman or Wartortle getting its fluff it then drops, i like both of those because of the strong identity, but Quilava tops them because it ties the while line together, while the identity makes Wartortle and Croconaw feel like they stand on their own, which while good on a individual mon level doesn't really sell the Mid-evo transitional state as well and Quilava does, especially since Quilava works with less stuff. So a s a Mid-Evo stater Quilava does it best.
As a individual mon it is up to debate.The Johto starters are the best set BECAUSE they are under-powered to their contemporaries, and that is what a starter-line should be, a starter, not a top dog god among mons with OP HAs.
