Haunter will always reign surpeme in people's hearts anyway because garbage gengar is a trade evo. Even the anime shilled him over Gengar and it's easy to see why.

Original trio are all excellent in their own unique way, Mega Gengar is godawful, Giga Gengar is laughably pathetic.

Objectively speaking it should go Haunter > Gengar > Gastly > Giga > Mega but I know a lot of people would say Gengar > Haunter which despite being wrong is a perfectly fine inoffensive opinion.
