if you guys want to be actually sugipilled, many mangaka used similar art supplies. Old water color sets came in a particular range which is why most mons have similar color schemes besides uniformity/archetypes. You also have to build water color up. Digital doesn't have that problem, so they can go all over the place but risk losing that harmony.

I think the main shift is that nu-pokemon are mess of many different colors were most Gen 1 mons were pretty much monochromatic

The issue is that these colors don't bland together and look random an unnatural
If you look closely at the top line, they also have three colors but they have one real dominant color and then often a a pale, organic color for the "belly"
In the bottom row, everything is random and unorganic, like some AI randomly generated them

Not anymore unnatural than Charizard with cyan wings or Nidoking with cyan ears, all the colors used are pretty complementary if you know basic color theory.
Your example isn't even workable, Greninja and Decidueye have very "bland-able" colors and Haxorus and Bisharp have their third color relegated to accents.
