I see Tyranitar a lot, but Larvitar usually comes up way too late for me to want to raise it. I avoid the Dratini at the Game Corner too.

I mainly use the same team in gen 2. I also have a secondary team if I start with Feraligatr instead. For most of the game I also use Nidoking and Granbull until I get the proper pokemon.

Top-left was (iirc) my team the first time I beat Silver, I might've had a Pidgeotto or something for Fly but yeah it was just those two. The Crystal Run was done deliberately with Pokemon I had either not or very rarely used.

You can probably guess form the 1st HG run that I have access to PBR.

How did you feel about Granbull? I felt like it hit like a truck with Return when I used it in Crystal recently but I definitely noticed how frail it was on the special side.

Granbull was a bit of a weak member of that team unfortunately, you're definitely right about Return but given how the late game's type specialists are it didn't help much. Quagsire was easily the MVP of that run, I wasn't expecting him to do so much work for the team especially given he basically swept Lance, like by comparison Espeon also did a lot of work, but I expected that from Espeon.

This is one of my favorite SoulSilver teams. The electivire was transferred from CrystalDust (it was a guaranteed shiny) and the giratina was from the Arceus event. I got the shiny Typhlosion completely by accident when i soft reset for a better nature
