But it ruined the story of SM.
Should be a Sequel and not just an "AU" with 2 or 3 things added.

Also. Sometimes it tries to be it's own thing,but then you're doing the same thing like in og SM, but in SM that had some sense with the plot.

They SHAT on almost every character.
Lusamine now is just "a bad mother" and that's it. There's no catharsis and there's no "I'm sorry" scene. Just "Ok I was wrong, are you happy little brat?"

Sun and Moon are a pain on repeat playthroughs. And these games change so little on the main experience it leaves quite a sour taste in peoples mouths running through essentially the same game twice.

Who was asking for this? I wanted a sequel. Same shit for Kalos, I dunno why cucks ask for Pokemon "Z" or "Stars" after BW2 established a better alternative. Especially for SM, which was one of the most unique and compelling stories in the series.

Ultra was basically just SM on hard mode, barely warranted being its own game let alone TWO.

Yeah, instead of doing Let's Go they should've repackaged the ultra space and rainbow rocket storylines into a present-day Kanto after Lillie and Lusamine arrive there

also 80% of music after gen 5 is forgettable as fuck. i put 300 or more hours into every pokemon game and i remember maybe 2 songs from every gen after 5

How so? In terms of post game they felt pretty lacking altogether, especially compared to other follow up versions (Emerald, Platinum, B2W2).
I'm genuinely curious here as I can't remember there being much to do once you beat the main game.

Same issues as S&M. That's all. Pokemon designs are the best they've been in years and the soundtrack is probably one of the best in the series. But stopping ever 3 minutes for story is shit. Wish someone would find a way to mod it all out.

It has all the bad things inherited from SM so:

Why specifically are these worse than the originals?
I played Moon back on release, and I recently picked up Ultra Sun and intend to go through it at some point in the next couple of months.
Is it actually a literal downgrade, or do people just hate on it because it wasn't different enough to warrant buying an additional game?

Cutscenes and story-driven characters were too intrusive which made the main game feel like it was handholding you to the end. It did have some good stuff like Pokemon taking care of HM jobs instead of your team, but a lot of it was a chore to get through.

That's the worst part. It's not scrapped, but it's still implied.
Lusamine's savior complex in USUM makes zero sense without the context of her trying to make up for what she did in base SM. Even more uncanny is how she still has the fucking frozen Pokemon in her basement but this time around no one acknowledges it.
This along with how USUM didn't even fix any of the glaring issues with Gen 7 just screams that USUM was meant to be a DLC expansion before they decided to make it a split third version for profit. And of course retards bought it up in droves and made it one of the best selling third versions despite that fact and now they're on /vp/ defending it along with the rest of the nu-era that SM indoctrinated them into.

Absolute worst thing about this gen is that you can't just pick up one of the games and play. You have to slog through ~3 hours of finishing up the first island before you're given a little bit of agency and even then, you're extremely railroaded into not exploring.
At least gen 8 had you explore a bit in the wild area at the start, you didn't feel like you had any movement of your own in these games, which is a shame.
