Becaue Unova took a risk by valuing its own Pokémon over the Kanto. As a result, its mons had allowed to have the highest precentage of Dexit survivors and plenty of shilling in Legends.

What was with the lack of Kalos? Other than Avalugg and Sylveon there were no Kalos mons, it was the ONLY region not named at all in game, and they were the only starters to never be in gen 8

Except Johto can stand on its own schizo. If anything Kanto dragged Johto down because the only complaints about Johto any basis in truth (level curve and distribution are because of Kanto.)

It really can't. If players weren't able to return to Kanto after beating Lance, the games would not have been successful.

True in a sense, it would be just another boring entry in the series like gens 3-8 are. But being able to return to Kanto is what makes it far superior to all of them and still loved by many.

Under that logic they also had Johto pandering considering they also got 3 new Regional evolution lines, and 3 completely new evolutions for those lines.
