I can't recall a single match in history that has been praiseworthy for being altogether realistic, competitive, and spectacular.
The ashnime is very trash when it comes to the actual battles the more you think about it; nevertheless, the other anime entries are never much better. Neither Origins nor Generations portrayed compelling battles in them.
Take Deoxys vs Rayquaza for example, probably the coolest fight in that series yet it's extremely one-sided, brief, and basic.
Pokemon anime has done a very poor job of showing battles.
