cause its rare to talk about pokespe basically anywhere, i guess i can just give you reasons why i specifically dont like special and oldrival
for specialshipping, yellow obviously has a massive crush on red, he saved her life and she went out on a mission to help him (she was sent on said mission by blue btw), and there are very heavy handed moments like the thread between their pinky fingers in both the end of the yellow arc and in frlg
i just feel like red himself doesnt like yellow romantically, or at least doesnt show any indication of this in the manga
he literally thought she was a dude until the end of gsc, and he only blushes at the end when blue makes a comment about them all living together
in frlg, she basically only meets red for a few pages at the end, they only discuss the immediate matter at hand, and then red uses deoxys to send her and mewtwo to the shadow realm. shes falls unconscious after telling red about deoxys, but sleeptalks about how red always keeps his promises. after its all done, he gives her the old pokedex he had. he starts bridal carrying her while shirtless, and then they get rock'd by sird's darkrai
in emerald, they all get unrock'd near the end of the part, and red just puts her down from the bridal carry immediately. he then spends the next few pages fighting with gold (underrated friendship, he literally spends more time with gold than he does with yellow). after they destroy the energy kyogre, there's one panel with them and their pikachus, and then they stand near each other in the very last panel
at no point is red embarrassed or nervous around yellow, nor does he show any sign of liking her
i dont hate the ship, i just think its one sided, like red sees her as an important friend and thats it
