>>50131729i love xy and gen 6. i played these games when i was at the peak of my childhood. however looking back, there was so much missed potential here. not to be cliche about it but imagine if gamefreak spent time on pokemon z instead of rushing out sun/moon. painfully obvious to even me as a child who upon seeing the half assed zygarde side quest in gen 7, could immediately piece together that it was meant for a game z but scrapped.
megas were such a cool gimmick and had so much backstory, as much as oras was also a missed opportunity, just look at the amount of effort put into making those games seamlessly blend into the lore of xy with the delta episode and new hoenn megas.
it's really just a shame that gen 6 imo had the capability to be one of if not the best gen in the series with the advent of new tech, new gameplay, engaging environment, but instead it fell short and instead signaled the start of an era of laziness and stagnation that continues to fuck up new releases by gamefreak to this day
