Well obviously, DP is the only good post gen 2 game. But /vp/ is full of zoomers who judge games based on how many pokemon they don't plan on using show up in grass.

makes sense. Gen V's dex was hated despite the games being pretty good and the 3DS didn't have an install base until ORAS.

As much as I hate yearly releases it's keeping the series on top.

I agree. Despite Shitnoh's flaws it did a good job at maintaining the series' popularity.
Gen VII saved the series after Gen V killed it.

You're not factoring in the centralization of the internet. Nobody visits dedicated/official websites anymore like they did in the 2000s. Kids were going on Pokemon.com all the time years ago because it was actually interesting and fun. Kids today barely even use a browser. They just go to youtube on their phone and use social media apps. Measuring Pokemon's popularity using their website traffic is so retarded.

What graph are you looking at

DP comes in, in 07 and then Platnium in 09.

BW didn’t get released globally until 2011, so if anything’s to blame for those bad numbers, it’s people losing interest in Sinnoh.

It was later than 2010. I remember as a senior in high school twitter was still largely a platform for jokes and pictures of people's vacations. It really was around 2014 when the septic tumors of tumblr and reddit popped that shit went foul
