Nobody is saying it's been less than a year. Time passes as normal, the characters simply don't age regardless of how much time has passed. It's made explicit that Ash spent at least a year in each region, he (and everyone else) simply didn't age because they're in a cartoon made for 10 year olds.

He's not entirely wrong, there have been instances in the anime where its mentioned that at least a year had passed, and that has happened more than once. You can argue the Pokemon Movie where he has a birthday of course, but the anime has mentioned time passing quite significantly before and yet Ash still is always 10.

given that she was not visibly pregnant when he left that means she would have had to be three months pregnant at the absolute most.
and babies usually do not start babbling until at least four months old, which means that the kid had to be at least that old by the time ash actually met them
this means that it has been at minimum 10 months since ash left alola, so the only way for him to possibly still be 10 years old is if the entirety of the first seven gens of anime took place over two months

no one pays any mind to non-serialized series doing it because there is never any real change to the status quo outside of maybe a minor character dying or getting married or some shit, which have no long-term impact on the main cast or their personalities

The only character to age in any way at all over the course of the series entire run is Kukui and Burnet's baby, who was born between the end of Sun/Moon and before Journeys and is already clearly a few months old.

Nobody else has shown any ounce of actual aging in anyway except Lei, who was born and grew just enough.

They age, but you won't see a huge change in appearance until the human undergoes evolution.
No reason why every living thing in this world is either human or Pokemon, and every Pokemon can evolve, even the ones without a known evolution yet.

I think that shows how aging and evolution aren't the same thing. Evolution comes from battling and effort, you evolve as you get stronger, but time is something that passes by regardless of what you do. A pokemon can stay at their starting form, but still die from old age in their beginning form. Excluding Pokemon immune to death by old age like most ghost types and certain others.

desu, I don't remember the last time Ash was explicitly said to be 10. I'm rewatching XY right now and binged JN a few weeks a go, and I legit don't remember them saying Ash was 10. Maybe he IS older they just refuse to say because giving him a hard age muddies up people's perceptions and puts hard timelines on the plot they don't want to commit to.

Unless they're constantly refreshing this aspect for the modern generation, it's non-canon to the world anons. That's how Pokémon continuously updates itself, by displaying current canon in the anime.
