What the fuck were Game Freak thinking when thet remade Granite Cave in ORAS?

First of all, they force you to battle Brawly before you can talk to Steven. This sucks since it means you can't come back to Brawly when you're stronger if you're having a tough time with him (not that you will because they've lowered his level in this game). In gen 3, beating Brawly let you use Flash, which would make the cave a lot easier, so you still had a big incentive to battle him without it being mandatory.

They also locked the lower floors away behind the mach bike. This wouldn't be a major issue if they had made it into a substantial dungeon with some cool stuff to reward players that explore. But the lower levels are incredibly basic, they've removed the crumbling floor section. They've also removed Flash as a HM and made it completely unecessary since the entire cave is still very visible without using it, which makes you think why they even bothered including it as a overworld TM in this game.

Worst of all, there are 4 Pokemon that are now locked away until you get the mach bike and decide to backtrack to Dewford (Aron, Mawile/Sableye, Abra and Nosepass - who also requires Rock Smash). The first two can only be caught here or near the very end of the game, and the last two can only be caught in this cave. They also didn't bother increasing the levels of Pokemon on the lower floors (despite the fact that you'll be a much higher level by the time you get the mach bike), so if you do decide you want to use any of these Pokemon, they'll require a lot of extra levelling until they're on par with the rest of your team at that point in the game.
