It's just hard to make something become a insect. The only thing I can think of that would kind of work without being too freaky would be the Reuniclus family if they were encased in honey and mentally hijacked Combee.

It's doable just fine. The most common ideas are shit like bear Pokemon having honey on their fur full of bees and shit. Otherwise you can add parasites to a Pokemon.

Loads of pokemon can evolve to become more insect-like. For example, Krabby and Kingler could become bugs by becoming more land-based creatures. Pic-related could also lose its reptilian features and devolve to be more insect-like.

yeah I guess it's just because it's less easy to just slap bug onto something without a more "considerate" reason. maybe it can be a parasitic thing? like a dog pokemon that gets infested with fleas or something

Maybe if they did a region with extreme mutation as a theme, like B-movie toxic waste style mutation where you might turn into a bug or a tentacle creature. It's common even in kid stuff so I wouldn't find it unbelievable for pokemon
