Crystal is nice but it introduced the most egregious flaw of the series that continues to plague it today, that being the forced legendary shit. I put GS over Crystal for that honestly. HGSS shit the bed here too. Ho Oh and Lugia were totally optional, looming forces of legend that you explored to find at your own leisure in GS. In Crystal some sperg shoves Suicune in your face constantly and it's just off putting as fuck

Silver has the best sprites.

However, Crystal has easy to obtain evo stones - if you get the right phone number, the trainer will call you within 30 minutes to tell you that they have the relevant stone ready for you. I had both Arcanine and Starmie before the 5th badge in my last Crystal playthrough. This makes Crystal the ultimate Gen II game.

There is only one forced encounter with Suicune or Eusine in Crystal, that being at the Burned Tower where you have to awaken the beasts before Morty.

The Cianwood encounter with Suicune and Eusine can be completely skipped without even going out of your way to do so. In fact, most players probably don't even know about this encounter.

Regardless of the quality of the game, it was a step in the right direction towards not treating fans like shit which as usual they immediately walked back by releasing two identical games in SV. I thought the game was decent, more coherent plot than SwSh or XY. The graphics sucked but then I played rune factory 5 which somehow looks and runs even worse so I guess instead of only hating gamefreak I also hate Nintendo and their shit hardware.
