>>50165338He doesn't know. What he's saying is that Let's Go establishes that the Karate Master in Gen 1/3/7 is definitely named Takenori (Koichi in English).
So basically (using Japanese names first for it to make more sense, and also keep in mind Karate Master = Karate King in Japanese)
>Karate King in GS's Mt. Mortar (the Fighting Dojo's master) is named Nobuhiko (Kiyo in the English games).>A different Blackbelt on Route 45 in GS is named Takenori (Kenji in English), and his dialogue is about training in solitude in the mountains>In FRLG, the Karate Master is named Takenori (Koichi in English)>HGSS comes out, and the Mt. Mortar Karate King is still named Nobuhiko (Kiyo) and the Route 45 guy is still Takenori (Kenji)>Let's Go comes out, and once again the Karate Master is Takenori (Koichi)So the only thing that's settled is that in Gen 1/3/7, the owner is Takenori (Koichi, maybe Kenji), and that in Gen 2/4 the owner is definitely Nobuhiko (Kiyo). He doesn't know if this was a name mixup that they just stuck with or if it was an intentional story decision to have it change hands over the years.
What's interesting for us is that the English games didn't catch Takenori's name being the same, so we have a Koichi and Kenji, but in the Japanese games it's not established if the two Takenoris are the same.
