>>50167186Pokemon Emerald, it's basically the Crystal/Yellow for Ruby/Sapphire. It has some QoL improvements in terms of designs and trainers, catchable Pokemon, story, etc. The only real noticeable difference is you'll fight a different 8th Gym Leader (same Type) and a different Champion than the one in RSE, though the original character will still be present in the story.
Gen 3 overall isn't much different from Gen 1/2, just go in it expecting to have some blind fun with some silly Pokemon essentially, don't think too hard about it and play at your own pace so you don't burn yourself out. Just be aware it has more water routes, and requires stuff like Surf/Dive HMs to get around in some places.
