Women don't even know who the fuck Serena is because adult women don't watch Pokemon.
It's grown up men like all the Poketubers who autistically follow the subs for the newest Japanese episode, and then discuss the episodes in 4kids naming format to prove their ship is better.

Yeah females do like Pokemon games and the Gen 1 anime but I meant the newest ashnime in particular, the /padt/ group consists of mostly 20-30ish year old men, if you read those threads, they talk about themselves a lot all the time when they're not discussing their favourite Pokegirl.
At the least the shipping discourse on /vp/ is extremely male dominated

The series overall does, but the anime does not. Even at that, girls don't seem to be very interested in this ship, I mostly see them posting yaoi or sometimes something minor like misty/ash or dawn/ash. Literally go on social media right now and you will see that the majority of people posting about serena x ash are men.
Most of the female shippers in this fandom are in to the games or pokespe, the anime viewerbase itself is dominated by men.

Girls don't like Ash enough to self insert to other characters to be with him. Men can self insert as Ash and choose their favorite waifu as he basically has a harem so that's who makes up the majority of the shippers.
There is a reason women don't watch and like harem shows, the MC is usually bland and they don't want to be with the waifus. Outside of Goh, they don't make up the shippers for the anime, that's all men.
