Print runs should go back to the amounts they were in the ex-era, reverses should be ex-era styled with (different) holofoil patterns on the actual illustration instead of the shitty foiling we currently get on the card background, and there should be only regular holo rare cards, with 4 secret rare cards at most.

Basically, we should just have the ex-era again but with new pokemon.

Have you guys seen the TCG illustrator contest entries? https://www.pokebeach.com/2022/04/top-300-entries-revealed-for-2022s-pokemon-tcg-illustration-contest

Only one gets to be made into a promo card, but there's so many cool pieces. I hope some of these illustrators eventually get hired for freelance. I bet some unemployed internet artist is a lot cheaper than some of the 3D artists they have.

There's plenty of angles and compositions in these cards that TPCI have kinda phazed out since the ex era. Angles that obscure the main body, crazy foreshortening and dynamic movement, and the Pokemon's back facing the camera are all common here, but have not been in the TCG since 2006.

This was the only 3D entry among the runner-ups. I don't blame anons for hating cg cards since all we have are 5ban and amateur japanese 3d studios, but look how good this is. The Steelix reflection in the claw is something that can only look good in a render, yet studios like shitban or Planeta never take advantage of the unique aspects of 3D.

Based art in there. Although, looking at many of the illustrations there do make you realize how good a job the regular artists do at capturing some type of personality with the pokemon.

How many fucking entries in there were just "pokemon looking reflectively into the distance with bloom" or "pokemon sleeping soundly with another species."

I get that you want to make your pokemon seem "majestic" but everyone just goes for the standard thing.

There's some big shitters in that timeframe you mentioned, but I agree that older sets do have better artwork. I think a lot of it is how >>50175756 mentioned with there being such unique poses that the pokemon were in that just aren't really allowed/seen anymore. Could be pure headcanon tho.

Just to be able to trade again. Right now "trading" has come down to just buying a card off of someone while they buy a card of equal value off of you. If the """"""""market price""""""" is identical, you swap, but if the """""""market price""""""" is not, you end up forking over the cash difference. Soulless as fuck. Back when you were a kid, trading for a pokemon you liked, regardless, of popularity, was fine and fulfilling. If an ex emerald snorunt in PSA10 showed up (pop 0 at ), even though the real cost of the card would most likely be 150ish, since it’s my bro and I have no intention of ever selling it, I’d gladly trade a card/ buy it for a much higher value. You're not a kid anymore so you let money and value, something that kids overlook, get to you. I am at peace with knowing that the enjoyment I get out of trading and buying cards outweighs their monetary value.

They do something called repacking/resealing. Basically you use an exact knife and a flashlight and you can see if a pack has a “hit” or not based on the code card. If it does, you weight it. Between certain weight thresholds, you open the pack and reseal it after taking the good card out, placing the bad one in, and putting the cards back in order. All these companies do it and if you look at the bad reviews of these “great deals” there’ll always be people showing the proof of the reseal, since it’s easy to spot if you are carefully looking

Here is another area of speculation. CSG bumped its 9.5s to 10s.

CSG (sports cards) is the sister company to CGC (pop culture cards). So some thing that CGC may roll out these changes too. All legacy 9.5s can get bumped to 10s

9.5’s get bumped down to 9, anon….. if a card is a 9.5 that means it isn’t a 10, and since there are no subgrades, you go straight down to 9. Grading companies always round 10 (besides PSA but they’re awful)

So it's just speculation but some are priming for CGC 9.5s to be convertible to CGC 10s. Ofcourse CGC may never implement this but considering they are sister companies the possibility is there.

Really means nothing. I’ve gotten alt arts from sellers that eventually had to stop selling on ebay since it got proven they were resealing. It's somewhat easy to miss rares since you have to weigh the pack and the weights aren’t a surefire way of telling. Either way that RR is like a 12 dollar card pack fresh and my brother in christ you spent 40 on the box

Nice, anon! I love good artistic interpretations of Darkrai. It's a pokemon that really shines with some artistic license. I think most pokemon getting the 5ban treatment look like shit to begin with, but Darkrai can often look really plastic-y and toy-like even with regular illustrations.

It’d be better to lost as a lot on eBay. Separate them into sets (the ereaders will def sell, ik multiple schizos itt collect then) and sell off by set.
Just keep in mind the rules of selling should be to use recent sold prices with cards in comparative quality (assume MP-LP) and also don’t have an “I know what I have” attitude about it. Explore the values of the cards and then decide in if you want to sell them in a lot (75-80% of there standard value), or as singles. I’d recommend eBay over Troll and Toad or TCGplayer since they’re foreign cards. Do you live in Deutschland or do you live elsewhere
