got back into DX and pulled off Purity Forest. Was trying lots of mons like Gardevoir/Heracross/Charizard and was getting brutalized, but Cloyser took me there first try.

In Explorers, I always want Treecko as my partner because of Grovyles role in the story
In Rescue team I tend to stick with Mudkip player + Charmander partner because that's what I did the first time
in Super I went player Treecko + Froakie partner

what even are some of the harder pokemon choices? i may consider playing the game again with that explorers of skies romhack

I played DX a little after release with Bulbasaur and Totodile, then my joy-cons broke and I had to take a break. Never got back into the game after that.

Not sure about every game but I know in DX Grass types are hard mode. Most of the bosses there are at least partially Fire/Ice/Flying.

although i've never played DX, only the originals as a grass type and it was pretty tough
