And if it's just a casual playthrough, Flame Wheel and Bite are perfectly good until level 40, since you're only halfway through the game at that point.
Flamethrower and Crunch is really only if you're going to challenge the Battle Tower or take your team to Pokemon Stadium 2. In which case, the grind is worth it.
