>an open world Pokemon game would never work!

If you have ever stated the above in any capacity, I just want to take this opportunity to give a full and frank 'Fuck You' to you and anyone who thinks like you.

You are exactly the reason that the Pokemon series is currently in the state it's in, and you are nothing more than a useful unpaid stooge for Game Freak.

Pokemon was always supposed to be an open world, and you can tell this when you play Gens 1 and 2. However, hardware limitations meant that there was really only so much they could do. Making a full open world with more primitive technology wasn’t possible.

However, what Gens 1 and 2 did to get around this was create the illusion of an open world by slowly opening up the map the more badges you earn.

Now, in the modern world where real open world games are a thing, Game Freak shys away from the topic as they're already too deep into the rabbit hole - investors expect big turnovers and sales with more games released per year.

PLA was another 'illusion' of an open world and was at least a good start to get us to where we need to be. But still a far cry from the perfect Pokemon adventure that we all have in our minds.

Literally all they would have to do is hire the right people and spend a good few years planning it so that the game is both open with a great deal of freedom, but still accessible enough for kids to enjoy.

>but GF have to make the games easier for kids otherwise their parents will call GF Customer Services and complain like they did in Gen 4

As far as I'm concerned this is a bullshit story GF invented to hand-wave away their customers' growing expectations and to give them an excuse to sell us the exact same formula we have been given for the last 25 years.
