Big oversight on GF's part making Heatran a legendary when it very easily could have been a pseudo or Volcarona-like Pokemon. It would have given Sinnoh another fire and steel type family and cut down Sinnoh's bloated legendary count.

I kind of understand the venusaur thing because it's name could trick you into thinking it's a dinosaur since you were a kid, but heatran always looked like a bull frog to me

Venusaur has the slopped back of a toad, but Heatran doesn’t. It also has a slight tail (Venusaur doesn’t, toads don’t) and toads keep their legs close to their body, not way out like Heatran’s.
