>>50219363They actually have dialogue in-game where Bede talks to you about his Hatterene, and how he’s taken care of her (such as telling you that he bringers her to wide-open spaces with few things around so she can destress) as well as showing he had her ever since he was a kid, and he trained it from when it was young. I mean, she does start out as Hatenna with he fights you the first time.
Bede is a fucking mess, yeah, but he’s not a tranny, he’s just legally required to wear that stupid jumpsuit if he wants to stay in the league. Off the clock he’s just a normal (if pompous) guy. His Hatterene is likely friendly to him because he put in the hard work and effort over many years to actually get her comfortable and help her as a Hatenna come out of her shell.
If you didn’t have to literally go out of your way to learn this shit in-game (most of it is ONLY through the dumb randomized IoA encounters) then it probably be a pretty nice story.
