May's voice actress has problems with her throat and as far as I know it hasn't gotten any better.
Granted, they could just have him and his sister show up in a flashback. May's acknowledged, May fans are happy.

Why is she out forever? If KAORI never returns to voice work and they want to bring her back, they will. I don’t know where people online are getting this idea that Japan considers voice roles some sacred work that should never be replaced, but they do it all the time.

He was a prick know it all, who thought everything he said, was the right choice, but that was in the begining of the season, he got least annoying at the end.

If they really wanted to bring her back, they'd replace the seiyuu.
The truth is, she isn't THAT popular compared to Misty or Dawn, or Serena and Hoenn doesn't get much love in the ashnime either so there's no REAL need to bring her back.

It's very different in Japan then the west. They do idolize VAs and only change them if absolutley nessecary and would rather write a character out then to replace their VA if possible.
