1. Serena finally returns and spends most of her time with the new girl. Coaching with words Ash used to encourage her. Also allows her to participate in a performance to get a feel for it, before doing one herself (the Lisia chick was there too).
2. Ash is off distracted by a battle with Wallace for 95% of the episode.
3. The last (literal) minute of the episode arrives and Ash/Serena reunite and right after they exchange a very brief "It's been a while" "You doing good?" "yeah we used to travel together" the boat Ash and his current crew are on leave. Followed by this scene with Ash saying he's aiming to be the best in the World Championships and Serena replying with pic related.
tl;dr it essentially comes down to if things between them (the kiss, the childhood meeting, etc etc) have been retconned or completely dropped or no. The episode only gave Ash and her about 40 seconds to interact.
