Not really. USUM was peak Pokemon and it sold more than any third version that came before.

Swoosh wasn't that bad either, it's just the vocal minority upset about Stantler.

If you want to be specific, BW2 were the real start. They made many clear changes from BW were continued in XY and later. Nu-pokemon isn't always had, just different.

agree, though bw2 had way less (Kanto) pandering and were still pretty good so it sucks to say lol
xy definitely started the trend of noticeably unfinished shit rushed out the door for merch purposes, though (even though arguably every gen since 3 has had issues with development and especially being rushed along, most of them still ended up being pretty good so they're not really bad because of it; worse off, definitely, but not bad)
