I still haven't gotten past Roxie, but my initial thoughts on redux is its harder than the first version but you have more interesting options. Cheran is still very encounter dependent, but at least you can have a full 6 encounters before fighting him unlike the first game. But you need to get through the plasma grunt double battle at the ranch, preferably without a death. Dray is usually good at giving you gift encounters that may not make a fight free, but greatly help your odds. But for Cheran and the grunt, you're only guaranteed encounters are your starter and an elemental monkey based of your starter, and neither of those tip the scales that much so you really need something good from the other 4. You'll likely lose quite a bit early on from bad encounters but the game moves quickly and is good at streamlining you past the tutorials after resets.

Got two runs atm but got burned out on playing Diamond on my 3ds. Training for E4

This is my randomized HGSS run I started yesterday. 1 legendary in team max, so I don't steamroll. Sadly for me Heatran kind of wrecked my team. Beau the Persian and WishMaster definitely carry my team. So it was sort of poetic they were the only survivors.

yes the name is stupid, yes it’s based on Harry Potter- I’m mostly playing it to change up my usual play style, which is far different from its default ruleset

Attempt #4 or 5 of Sacred Gold. Omega Fire Red took 7 or 8 tries. I'm right before Pryce and my current team is okay I guess but I really don't have anything solidi for Pyrce. Bronzong and Poliwrath are my best contenders.
The starters aren't really dead but were PokeCenter gift/quiz Pokemon I consider ineligible for the run but honestly? If I wipe again I'll try one more with the ability to use them.

Crits have caused many of these niggas deaths. Roserade, Raichu, Gyarados, and I think Tailow died to crits that wouldn't have otherwised kill them. Roserade died to a fucking Raticate using Flame Wheel and died from full hp no level disadvantage.

What a fucking cursed run this has been.

Tried and failed 3 times now, mostly on account of random crits, but also the gym leaders are pretty stacked. I've heard late game gets better, but I haven't made it past Burgh, so I wouldn't know. Kind of disheartened on the whole thing to be honest.

Whitney filtered me 3x on Sacred Gold. It's funny because this time I swept her with a level 36 Espeon that had Calm Mind from a moved TM.

Is Vanilla BW any good? I only played Blaze Black. I like Unova designs a lot actually and was considering vanilla BW or BW2 nuzlocke.

It's alright. Pokémon variety isn't Unova's strong suit in BW, but it's way better in the remakes. The Exp. system makes it a slow burn though.

Dray's hacks aren't fun to Nuzlocke desu. The only one I find lockable is Sacred Gold and that has a god awful amount of grinding

That's what I'm starting to think. I was interested in it for the mon variety, but the grinding and hacks may make it not worth it.

started nuzlocking blue deathless and with only using every healer once. grinding is tedious without fast-forward but I find it dishonest otherwise. do you guys use fast-forward?

Fast-forward is fine for grinding, I try not to use it when I'm actually playing through the game.
Most nuzlockers nowadays just use rare candies anyway, which is where I draw the line of cheating.

I set level caps(+2 the GL max level) and use EXP AR codes to expedite catch up. I don't grind the entire team to the +2 for free though, only the relevant members if others are behind.
Though in Omega Fire Red it was more luck than grinding. I grinded some sure, without cheats yes, but it wasn't anything crazy. Gary was a bastard and doing Misty without Electabuzz or Sunflora is pretty cucked.
So this was after Gary in the E4. Tyranitar and Altaria were gotten within the last 2 hours of the run I want to say.

After playing so many Drayano hacks this sounds kind of nice. I like Unova mons quite a lot.

Wouldn’t mind rare candies if they were only used to get replacement mons up to an even level quick, but sometimes I see people use them right after a gym to get to the next gyms level cap. So they’ll be at a point where they are 5-10 levels above every trainer until the next gym making the difficulty nonexistent

Impossible evolutions refers to making all Pokémon that can evolve able to, like removing the trade requirements for Kadabra and Machoke. The nuzlocke generator is a page for keeping track of your nuzlocke. It has stuff like a dedicated graveyard section, let's you put in the rules you use, etc.

The gate between Aspertia and Route 19 is its own location (at least in this game). So if you hatch the egg there it'll count the encounter as "Aspertia Gate"

Maybe you have a different patch for the game than me, but that fight is definitely there. It was added from the original and it sucks. It a double battle that runs Growlithe/Mienfoo/Axew/Joltik. They're coverage is ridiculous and the growlithe runs a damn near VGC support build with intimidate + Snarl/Helping Hand/Incinerate. This early in the game, you just don't have the options to reliably prepare for everything, especially defensively without protect.

That would make sense. I set the game to challenge mode as soon as I started it, so I wouldn't know what battles are and aren't in.

the first few gyms are very brutal, especially if you are unlucky with encounters. Otherwise it's a good romhack and I would recommend nuzlocking it for the experience at least.
