>>50235638the serious answer is that this is just a very different game to traditional mainline releases. the lack of online functionality means it has less staying power and replayability to tide players over and keep the pokemon series as actively played as possible for as long as possible, compared to the likes of traditional games. this is not to the detriment of the main campaign, its just something that comes with the game being different.
i suspect this is why they immediately started hyping sv, as people were already finishing up with PLA by the time of the announcement. SV gives people something to look forward to, and maybe puts them in the mood to replay swsh or get stuff ready to move forward. i imagine this is also why PLA released in january, so it had less time as "the new game". id have flipped PLA and bdsp's release dates, but i guess ilca were a gamble game freak werent comfortable with.
