>>50235964I just finished my second ever Emerald playthrough yesterday, and it almost made me kill myself. It was fine until the end where the only way to train is to die to the Elite 4 (which cuts your money in half) or grind Lv40-44 Golbat, Hariyama, Sableye, Mawile, Lairon, Confuse Ray, Mean Look, or Golbat. I could have used my Master Ball on Lv70 FUG, but I wanted to take my team to the end and not cheat with an overleveled legendary. Instead one thing became 20 levels higher than the rest of the team and basically did the same thing but in a more tedious way. Play Emerald if you want to say you played Emerald, and if it was me from 4 days ago I would still tell myself to play Emerald since I only played it when it came out. If you want to have a variety of moves and many QoL changes play ORAS. If you're on 3DS or use Citra lobbies you can make use of PSS multiplayer too which makes it great. ORAS has all the previous non-XY and Kanto legendaries (split between version exclusives) if you feel like catching them. I can't say if I like Battle Frontier yet, but that's because I haven't made sets to inject yet. Emerald can be played at fast forward speeds too. I love ORAS and I'm biased towards it. The way the text is presented, the tweaks made to script, and the closeup cutscenes make them feel like different adventures. Play both if you can.
