Its a colossal waste of time, and I have no respect for anyone would actually choose to spend real actual HOURS resetting and searching for a a palette swap pokemon with some sparkly effects.
If I see someone who is a shiny hunter my respect for them automatically goes down by a minor amount.

I love the idea of stumbling upon a shiny by pure chance, although I've only ever had that happen on normal odds twice (as in, not counting chain fishing and what not). The idea of hatching hundreds of eggs until you get one seems less interesting to me since you are going to get it eventually.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against egg hatching or soft resetting, but it's not for me.

If I run into a shiny, I catch it and get hyped and whatnot.
But I never actively seek them out because it makes them less special.

It's a waste of time, not because it's just a color swap, but because that color swap is most often an objective downgrade from the original coloration. Their only value, then, is their rarity, which is just not worth the effort.
You figure for something super special, they'd at least have some interesting colors that makes you want to get them

I don't hunt for them, but if I get one I usually add it to my party even if the mon/nature itself isn't one of my faves, just because it is a rare/special event.
