Is Dodrio the most forgotten/least talked-about monster from Gen I? Shit like Dewgong and Venomoth aren't because they are remembered and acknowledged for being forgettable

Come to think of it I think this line has always been pretty rare too. You NEVER see these guys or ever think about them

I am really hoping it comes back. Dodrio is among my top 5 or top 10 favorite Pokemon... I don't know why, I just love it.

It's really not lol, that's just a name. They named it after dodo because they were flightless and....quirky which these pokemon certainly are. Dodrio is much more of an emu or similar. Might be a little kiwi in there too

Yeah I know appearance wise. But I think maybe they thought of a flightless bird, and it's intended to look like a flightless bird.

The real life inspo is probably an emu.

It's definitely up there if not the number one. You're right that whenever I see things about forgotten Kantomons it's Dewgong at the top of the list, but I think this thing is probably more forgotten because it never gets brought up. What's really shitty is that it fits into that little category of Generation 1 Pokemon that still have a shitty move pool because it really hasn't been updated much over the years. Go look at this things movepool. It's atrocious. It doesn't even learn very many coverage moves

it was usually my go-to flyer in gen 1 playthroughs. I don't like using the regional first route birds.

I wish there were more non-penguin flightless bird pokemons, we got Galarian Zapdos but I'd like regular mons
That being said the Doduo line is one of my favorites from gen 1, and one of the few pokemon I prefer the pre-evo compared to the final evo. Doduo is just so cute

I remember back when they did that Japanese Pokemon popularity poll in 2016, Dodrio was surprisingly among the absolute bottom, the only gen 1 mon there by a considerably wide margin
