>>50269669These were easily some of the best fakes before Faecoco (if that's not actually real), but there are some clear flaws here.
Rocket bunny has a fantastic design, but there is one clear problem above all else: it doesn't sell itself being very natural in the Pokémon world. Yeah, we do have mechanical Pokémon, but this is a different conundrum. Not only would it have to suddenly get electronic elements into Scorbunny's design through the middle evo, but it would also have to sell it being done naturally since no stones or unique evolution methods could be used. There was also the matter of some of the shapes on this design being pretty damn odd. It just looks very artificial overall, and some elements like the ring pants just seem strange despite the intentional here. Lastly, the ears just seem strange how they prop behind its back. Ironically, Dragapult did a similar idea, but it got away with it due to being based on an animal with a head that actually looked somewhat like that naturally. Also, why Selene?
Sobble's fake evo is beautiful, but didn't really play too much on its themes outside of the watery phantom form. Why would a chameleon become Nessie? It also didn't play off Sobble's element of emotions at all. Yeah, Drizzile probably did carry a lot of that before it got less pronounced with Inteleon, but how the hell would you do that with a middle evo into this? Lastly, it almost seems to have too much going on for a starter evolution. Makes for a sick design, but these are supposed to be a bit more simple for marketing sake. The various fins just make it seem fairly complex.
