Another reason is due to its power to control others. Finally, it has the ability of foresight, while at max power, it can look into the past and further into the future. This ability in particular is important to its story as a Legendary, since it is how Calyrex and the Legendary Steeds rescued the Pokemon of Ancient Galar from Eternatus' meteoric arrival. Well, the actual crash of the alien dragon's meteor more so. "High intelligence", "mind control", "telepathy", and "foresight" are all arguably some of the more suitable themes for Psychic to cover as a type, and reasons for a Pokemon to be considered such, in my opinion.

As others have mentioned, Psychic covers way too many topics anyway, and it is applied to too many Pokemon. Most noticeably: Legendaries.
>>50273168You know, I thought about that myself. Victini's mere presence instilling a "winning mindset" into its allies, allowing them to take the correct course of action to victory. Influencing "fate", if one will. Still, I feel that Fairy is a better fit for the little Mythical. An Anon further up mentioned the valkyries, of which Victini does appear to share some influence from, and its design practically screams "Fairy". Way more than something such as Kantonian Mr. Mime does lol.
