However, Johto doesn't have the abundance of Poison-types that Kanto does, so it's not really necessary. In general, Chikorita's entire line is more about "freshness" and "invigoration" as opposed to Bulbasaur's, which is more . . . dangerous, for lack of a better term. This contrast was probably intentional.
