There needs to be at least one well-distributed, decently strong physical rock move with 100% accuracy.
Even just 80 BP and no secondary effects would be good enough.

The lack of accuracy is annoying and there's no real reason why there can't be at least one move that's accurate, but it's not the thing holding Rock types back.

Dunno, I like rock as the high risk high reward type with rock slide etc. having low precision but powerful effects.
The problem is that then you have types like fairy who have powerful moves with powerful secondary effects with no drawbacks.

In stallgon, sure. But they make sure every gen is a buff to stall.
In the actual game that real people without micropenises play, being able to have a borderline mandatory move like Protect without wasting a slot for an attacking move would be god-tier for offensive mons.

Rock Slide is 75bp/90 acc
Stone Miss is 100/80
Head Smash is 150/80 but very shit distribution
Accelrock 40bp priority but only on 1 decent mon
Diamond Storm is 100/95 with a 50% defense boost only usable on Diancie

compare this to Grass which actually has way way more options on both attack spectrums

It's able to via TR in SWSH unless you're referring to BDSP. But hey, they unironically did exactly that with Aurorus and Rock Polish so it's a possibility Lunatone won't be able to learn Power Gem in gen 9 if the Pokémon is in gen 9.
