Battle Frontier in Emerald is good but is held back by battles being too slow, having to repeat grindy pointless NFE battles every time you lose, and the terrible breeding/EV training mechanics in gen 3. In Platinum the BF repeats all the issues from Emerald on top of 3/5 of the facilities being practically the fucking same.

It's a return to form, to before the first games even came out.
Rather than any of the games in the series, PLA feels more reminiscent of gen 1 concept art.
I imagine that if GF had the technology back in 1996, PLA is what RBY would've looked like.

You're right, GF didn't go far enough! They should have made the ingame stats of every pokemon hidden as well, and the base power and effects of all the moves. That sounds like a much better game, wouldn't want to ruin the experience by knowing that things do, especially brand new mechanics!

I think I could have squeezed more out of it if ball throwing itself was more of a mechanic. Just something to break up the monotony after 15-20 hours. There's not enough depth or skill required to make starting over interesting.

Came back to the game after 2 months to complete my dex and man. Ive got to say i love how nice the character feels to control. Finally having fluid movement and a rotatable camera really changes it. The work they did with the models is great too, they seem to have a good artstyle for the characters and pokemon. Im excited for SV because it looks like its going to take all the good parts of this and make ot better, the pokemon textures are already a lot better and a traditional open world pokemon game could be great, its something weve always wanted.
