You can just catch a wild Pinsir and mega evolve them seconds later, despite it being fueled by friendship (a mechanic already in the game but not used) which I assume is for convenience (especially for competitive) but still runs counter intuitive to what it is.
Not to mention the distribution seemingly damned Pokemon from getting proper evolutions, having VERY predictable candidates who didn't actually need the Mega, and basically just turning Pokemon into a min maxed legendary and really just further fucking up power creep.
Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing are really lame visually (aside from a few standout Giga designs) and just kinda slow the pace down with just making them health sponges with super moves, but the buffing aspect in doubles specifically makes them just barely more mechanically interesting than how 90% of Megas are done
