GSC are amazing games and Silver was my first game, but the concietedness of Gen 2 and Gen 4 fans has become tiring. My favorite Pokemon games are HGSS and Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, which are both technically Gen 4 games, but I don't care much for Sinnoh as a region, with DP being my second least favorite games after Colosseum. I've seen many Unova fans praise their games as the peak of the series, but for the most part I feel it's not necessarily arrogance but rather backlash from receiving so much hate. Unova is also the only region apart from arguably Hoenn that can stand entirely on its own as a separate Pokemon experience without leaning heavily on Kanto.

HGSS are aesthetically ugly, their soundtrack is worse (and the GB Sounds is not properly replicating the original music), STAT EXP>EVs, most of the new Pokémon are inferior additions, the Team Rocket plot is turned into shonen anime garbage, most character redesigns/replacements range from 'same – worse' with no actual improvements, most new moves are just clutter...

GS > HGSS and it's not even close.

Redone music sucks and I much prefer the look of the gen2 games. The gen3-5 asthetic style for some reason doesn't feel nearly as comfy. The artstyle followed a similar trend.

Reminder that Unova is the best region for the sole reason of being the one region that introduced my wife, Ghetsis. No other region prior nor since Unova has featured a character so hot and desirable in my eyes. No amount of content or soul is ever going to cover for the lack of Ghetsis. Agree. Personally I believe pokemon peaked in gen 2, the design was simple enough to be timeless while still looking good. The gen 4 remakes are soulless in comparison
