The part I don't understand is why the designs are so impractical.
Palkia no longer has arms/claws to use Spatial Rend, and Dialga's throat is blocked (and it has no mouth) which should stop it from using Roar of Time.
If these were meant to be shit, like the Galar fossils, I could understand, but these are allegedly meant to be their superior original forms.

They are meant to look like Arceus. They don't have their own identity yet.

That's the point. Dialga and Palkia evolved to be more practical.

Huh? What part of that move implies usage of bipedal arms?

Every depiction of Palkia had had it use Spacial Rend by releasing a wave of energy from its arm, which slashes the air, and cuts a hole in the fabric of space.

I think that makes them very based. Reducing them to a more basic "hurr durr what if dragon but centaur" design would still be based, but I like that they took a slightly different approach.

I honestly think Palkia is fine. The paldrons with no arms looks weird, but it looks at least somewhat completely. Between the awkward differencei n leg shape, the blockiness, and the weird leg gradient, Dialga just looks unfinished
